Drupal 7 (D7) and Drupal 8 (D8) both, simultaneously, lose their support in late 2021. This deadline is fast approaching and the closer we get to the D7 and D8 end of life (EOL), fewer companies, Drupal shops, and Drupal developers will be available to assist organizations with their Drupal migration. Moreover, the closer we get to the emergence and maturity of Drupal 9 (D9), the open source community will be needed to focus their attention on contributed models for D9 and will therefore abandon their efforts and maintenance on previous versions. Organizations running Drupal 7, in particular, need to have a sense or urgency to plan and act on their Drupal migration initiative.
