WASHINGTON, DC – AUGUST 17, 2020. Congratulations to U.Group, which won 1st place in the U.S. Department of Education design challenge for the new ED.GOV website design. Agileana took 2nd place. A $50,000 bounty was shared between first and second place winners.
On March 31, 2020, the Department of Education released a website design challenge on challenge.com to get ideas and inspiration to improve its public facing website, ED.GOV.
The challenges with its website, according to the Department of Education, are that the current site:
- Is difficult to navigate
- Lacks an enhanced user experience
- Relies to heavily on text
- Is anteguated
- Does not have a consistent brand, look, or feel
In addition to the actual design, the challenged called for a clickable prototype delivered in WordPress or Drupal. And, the site needed to be responsive and Section 508 compliant.
So, the effort included design, development, cloud hosting, and DevOps. We leveraged user centered design and agile development methods to our approach.
